Ingredients
  

  • 2 cup cake flour sifted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon ground allspice
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¾ cup milk
  • ¼ cup unsulphured molasses
  • 2 large eggs
  • Creamy Caramel Icing

Instructions
 

  • Set the oven to 350°F, coat two 9-inch round cake pans with grease and place parchment paper on the bottom.
  • In a mixing bowl, mix together flour, sugar, shortening, salt, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, allspice, baking soda, and baking powder.
  • In another bowl, mix together milk, molasses, and eggs. Gradually blend in the ingredients and beat on medium speed for a duration of 2 minutes.
  • Hold the mixture, then spread it evenly among the prepared pans and bake for 27-30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Once done, let it cool.
  • Spread ¼ cup of Creamy Caramel icing on one cake and top with the second layer. Frost the entire cake.
