Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup butter
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup cream cheese
  • ½ cup cherry preserves

Instructions
 

  • Let's get the oven warmed up to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and prepare a 9-inch round cake pan by lightly greasing and dusting it with flour.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the butter,sour cream,salt, flour, sugar, baking powder, and the egg, then mix until thoroughly mixed.
  • In the bottom of the cake pan that has been prepared, spread the cherries preserves.
  • Drop the batter on top of the jam.
  • Sprinkle cream cheese in a heaping spoonful over the batter.
  • using a knife, cut the cream cheese into the batter.
  • Optional: Add chopped cherries on top of the batter, if desired.
  • Optional: Mix together 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1/2 cup melted butter and sprinkle over the cake.
