Ingredients For Fruit Salad
For this highly-rated fruit salad recipe, the following ingredients will be required:
Strawberries: Before purchasing, ensure to inspect them thoroughly. A fresh strawberry should be a bright red color without any blemishes or dark spots. It should appear lively and free from any signs of mold.
Pineapple: When selecting a pineapple, opt for a ripe one. To determine its freshness, give it a gentle press. If it’s not too soft and emits a sweet scent of fresh pineapple, it’s likely ripe. Ripe pineapples typically have skin that is semi-yellow or yellow in color.
Blueberries: The sweeter blueberries are plump.
Kiwis: Kiwis, whether big or small, will be relatively soft when ripe and firm when unripe.
Tangerine: Ensure that the fruits are both fully ripe and devoid of any imperfections.
Mango: Choose a fruit that is ripe yet still firm to the touch.
Grapes: Both green and red grapes can be used. Fresh grapes have a firm and plump texture, and are tightly attached to the stem without falling off easily. Their colors are bright and vibrant, which is another indication of their freshness.
Fruit Salad Dressing: The dressing for this recipe is similar to a syrup and serves to enhance its taste and flavor. You’ll need honey, freshly squeezed orange juice, zest, and lemon juice to succeed.
How to make Fruit Salad?
To prepare the fruits, it is important to cut and peel them correctly.
Combine all the fruit in a spacious bowl.
Whisk together the honey, lime zest, orange juice, and lime juice in a small mixing bowl to make the dressing.
Mix the fruit and the dressing together. Ensuring that the fruit is evenly coated by tossing it.
Cool down until you’re prepared to be served.
My Best Tips
- Utilize fruits that are currently in season to attain maximum freshness and taste.
- Once you’ve cleaned the fruit, ensure that it’s adequately dried before incorporating it into your salad. Moist berries or grapes can introduce excessive dampness to the salad, which can cause the fruit to soften more quickly.
- Include the dressing to the fruit just before serving. If the fruit remains in the dressing for an extended period, it will gradually disintegrate and become mushy.
- Be careful not to mix too vigorously when combining everything. To avoid damaging delicate fruits like blueberries and kiwi, it’s best to add them last.
- To prevent fruits that are prone to browning, such as bananas, apples, or pears, from discoloring, it’s advisable to slice and add them just before serving.
- If you like the taste of fresh mint, feel free to include some chopped mint in this fruit salad recipe.

Can You Freeze fruit salads?
Depending on the types of fruit used in the mixture, fruit salads can be frozen for up to 9 months. Two methods for freezing fruit salads include using a simple syrup or storing it in mixed bags.
Can You Store Fruits Salads?
To prevent potential health hazards, it’s recommended that leftovers, particularly fruits salads, be refrigerated for no more than two days since they are perishable and prone to spoilage. It’s advisable not to store them for an extended period. If the fruit becomes too soft to eat, a great alternative is to turn it into a smoothie.
Can I make this ahead of time?
To prepare your fruit, simply cut and peel as needed, cover it thoroughly, and store in the fridge (not the freezer). Although it’s possible to prepare it in advance, it’s preferable to hold off on adding the dressing until you’re ready to consume it. It’s important to note that you should consume the fruit salad within five hours of preparing it, as some fruits may shrivel and oxidize during that time. For example, sliced apples may turn brown. If you’re worried about discoloration, consider placing them at the bottom of the container or coating them in lemon juice to help preserve their color.
